Deadline is reporting Wednesday night that Henry Cavill is in talks to reprise his role as Superman/Clark Kent in the Warner Bros. theatrical DC Universe.
The online trade goes on to report a sequel to Man of Steel or standalone Superman film is not in the works, and that Cavill could return to the role in a “couple of different ways,” according to “sources with knowledge.”
Adding to speculation, Deadline says Superman isn’t expected to appear in Matt Reeves’ The Batman, but cites other projects that could include Cavill in a cameo role as Shazam! 2, Black Adam or Aquaman 2, all on Warner Bros. schedule.
Superman made a blink-or-you’ll-miss-it brief cameo in Shazam!, but another actor worn the suit and wasn’t seen from the neck up.
Warner Bros. provided no comment to Deadline.
Cavill made an appearance during last week’s Zach Snyder’s Vero Watch Party for Man of Steel and helped Snyder cue up the announcement of his director’s cut of Justice League for HBO Max in 2021.
